Abstract

Some of the subdisciplines that Nursing has started using not long ago and from the perspective of Cultural Cares are: "Transcultural Nursing", "Global Health Cares" and "Anthropological Nursing", whose main aims are pointed in assuring that cultural care needs in a global world are treated by "cultural competent" nurses or professionals developing a "cultural competence in caring". This article's main goal is to analyze the phenomenon of "cultural competence related to cares" as one of the most important concepts for Transcultural Nursing, Global Cares and Anthropology of Cares. This analysis is based on: most relevant concepts and definitions about Cultural Competence, characteristics and classifications, Models and protocols in clinical practice, policies and programs where cultural competence is useful, as well as a literature review.
