Abstract

Introduction. Sport is a means for learning physical, social and personal skills. In this sense, educational context plays an important role in influencing sport and personal experience of young people through the transmission of beliefs, behaviors, attitudes and values. Study how those responsible for the teaching-learning (teachers and students) mediate in achieving adaptive skills to keep a sport that encourage correspond with habits outside the school context, through growth and awareness of personal income and social. Objectives. Evaluate the influence of diferents forms in teacher´s methodologies over student´s response in physical education. Method. Participants. Physical education teachers and students of secondary. Instruments. Self-reports on perceived competence, competitiveness, social climate, interviews with students and teachers. Process. Mixed design methodology, quantitative and qualitative assessment in schools. Results. When physical activity is practiced, the sample shows that the students point out differences in perceived competence and motivation to success, and the students towards interest in social relations. On the other hand teachers show a greater awareness to issues with their utterances, perfectionist orientation and learning needs in acquiring the habit of staying active. Conclusions. Developing skills in teachers and students on specific psychological resources, allows adjustment of perceptions and beliefs about physical activity, directing is both the fulfillment of educational content, and the development of a consolidated much beyond the classroom physical education habit.
