Abstract
lntroduction: After having placed a total of 405 porcelain laminate veneers in 150 patients during 14 years of experience in the Department of Prosthodontics and Occlusion of the University of Valencia, we have introduced some modifications with regard to the parameters proposed in the literature, in order to adapt to the specific needs of each patient based on the initial indication and an accurate diagnosis of the case. Material and method: We analyse and discuss the clinical procedures used: preparation of the tooth, impression and temporization, technical procedure, try-in, marginal fit colour and cementation. Results: In a longitudinal study on 160 restorations, we achieved a sucess rate of 81%. The failures (9%) were due to: 4 fractures, 5 cases of immediate decementation and 5 cases of late decementation. Conclusion: Currently available clinical studies on porcelain laminate veneers seem to support their use as a standard treatment method in modern restorative dentistry.
