Abstract

This review focused on studies on the effectiveness of interventions for children victims of ASI between the ages of three and twelve. Publications registered in the Science direct, Jstor, Proquest, Redalyc and Scielo databases were analyzed. The results showed that trauma-focused behavioral cognitive therapy (CBT-CT) has more empirical evidence for the treatment of the consequences generated by child sexual abuse. In some cases, CBT-CT has been complemented with activities of psychodynamic play therapy and animal-assisted therapy. The effect of parent-child interaction therapy has also been demonstrated. The impact of therapies for managing the consequences of ASI in children and the role that third generation therapies could play as complementary to the management of symptoms or consequences of sexual abuse in children are discussed
