Under the frame of a project granted by the IMPIVA (Institute for the Small and Medium Valencian enterprises) for the analysis of the influence of footwear in the sport injuries occurrence and performance, it has been developed a new methodology to analyze the instep kick. A new measuring system was designed and validated combining pressures and high speed video cameras able to quantify the pressure pattern on the foot dorsum and its relationship with ball behavior (deformation and velocity) during the instep kick event. The result supposes a great scientific advance since it is the first time the pressure pattern supported by the foot dorsum has been measured during the instep kick. From the technological point of view a new tool for the development of design criteria of footwear boots to improve performance and prevent injuries has been put within reach of the market.
