Abstract

In industrial environment, the chromatic characterization is usual if we want to evaluate the color uniformity between different manufacturing lots of products. This fact is correct too for ink industries. For them, beside to make a visual assessment, is common to use methods, internationally accepted, for measure color. Mainly by determining CIELAB color coordinates and color differences calculated with respect to a standard value. For this task they take samples of the lots and different extensions are carried out. The extensions are obtained applying the ink to assay on a support, using manual applicators. However, the use of an applicator continuously, with the aim to evaluate different lots of the same ink, has as consequence to observe color changes that may not be attributed to variations in color of the lots. With this work we have tried to analyze the relationship between the number of applications, made with a single applicator and the color, of the extensions obtained, and thus assess the possibility of linking color differences and rod wear.
