Resumen
Based upon a sample of 1616 individuals of both sexes between 5 and 15 years of age, used for a previous study o age of attainment of emergence of the permanent dentition, it has been designed a method for the estimation of age from counts of present in the mouth permanent teeth with two stepwise regression formulae, one for each of the first and second transitional period. The aim of the present study is twofold, first, to report the method and, second, to calculate the error of estimation when applied to an independent sample. To do so, a sample of 274 individuals, 147 females and 127 males, was collected and used to obtain a estimated age. Chronological age minus estimated age is the error of estimation that as for the total sample is equal to -0,02 ± 0,94 years.
